A Poem

Was it you I felt in the darkness
                    After all this time alone,
Or was it just a sensation
                    Knowing you’re no longer home.

Was it you that gathered my teardrops
                     Then sprinkled them as rain,
To rinse my home of sadness
                     And make it glow again.

Did you peel my lips of smiles
From joy that left their mark,
                   Then smeared them into sunrise
Bringing Dawn to my heavy dark.

                   Was the sight of a T V ‘s image
                   Or the radio’s background sound
                   Really cloaked my awareness
God forbid you are not around.

As I’ve tried  in moving forward,
                  Your shadow still remains
                  Lacking light in my progress
And I stumble in my gains.

Yet my age has well taught me
                   Against adversity I must strive,
                   Your spirit, love, your presence
Fuels my courage; I must survive.
